You get microphone audio, OR you get source audio. That's not how AV receivers are designed to work. So, you can't have loud background music playing and being mixed to with the microphone. It should also be noted that AV receivers do not 'mix' audio. This is pretty clearly described in the owner's manual. But, AV receivers typically only have a 1/4" HEADPHONE OUTPUT. I expect that they think you will be hooking up that microphone to a standard karaoke unit which typically does have a 1/4" microphone input. This is why you need to always read the manual for your product. AV receivers don't have a 1/4" input jack for microphones. Make sure you hear audio from the connection you are making from other sources then plug in the microphone.Ĭlick to expand.That definitely is the issue. If you do not, then you may not even be on the proper input on the receiver. Likewise, if you plug your phone into the same connection point on the AV receiver, you should hear audio. Since the mics and the receiver can both control the volume, you need to ensure that only one actually is. If you already have it wired and think it should work, make sure that the gain of the microphones is turned WAY up. So, please let us know what mic you are using and you may get a more detailed response. In which case, a bit of fancy wiring sometimes needs to be put in place. This is exactly what I use in my house with an old Radio Shack mic which works perfectly well. Cheap mics typically have 1/4" mono outputs which need a 1/4" to RCA splitter, or combination to get there. I am just throwing out agreement with everything which has been said.
